Spring 2006     Brought to you by Masterpiece Mysterys

The notorious bandit Willie Sutton was once asked why he had decided to rob banks. Sutton replied, "Because that's where the money is."

ANECDOTE – Candid Camera Robbery

While setting up for a "Candid Camera" segment in a bank one day, Peter Funt (the show's host) was astonished to find himself in the middle of an actual robbery. As Funt looked on dumbfounded, the staff - naturally assuming that the robbery was a practice run of a practical joke - began clapping. So astonished was the robber that he actually dropped his gun and raced out of the bank!

HISTORY MYSTERY:

Louis Le Prince - Motion Picture Inventor Vanishes
1890

Louis La PrinceIn September of 1890, Louis Aimè Augustin Le Prince, the inventor of motion pictures, vanished from a moving train returning to Paris after visiting his brother in Dijon - the last person to see him alive.

The famous photographic pioneer was the first to successfully project pictures, use celluloid film rather than the traditional glass plates, and develop perforated film strips. Shortly after his disappearance, Louis’s patents were infringed upon and invalidated.

Standing over six feet three inches tall, Louis boarded the train with his equipment in his luggage. He never arrived in Paris. British and French police conducted an exhaustive investigation but neither his body nor his belongings were ever recovered. Camera

RECOMMENDED VIDEO:

Mulholland Drive, 2001 – Naomi Watts, Laura Harring

“A Love Story In The City Of Dreams” - A quirky, mind-bending David Lynch original, and one of his best. Naomi Watts is a starry-eyed Canadian girl who finds herself helping an aging Hollywood amnesiac from a car accident, Laura Harring. It quickly becomes apparent a mystery is afoot, and nothing is what it seems. At the end of it we said, "What was that? I don't know, but I loved it!" We think you will, too.
